Sheathed surfaces have the distinction of being waterproof, and protecting the roof from water infiltration.

Sun Ballast photovoltaic module structures do not require drilled holes or fastenings to install, therefore, it is possible to keep the features of the roofing unchanged.

Our customers’ favourite: the Connect system

The Connect Sun Ballast system is the ideal solution for the installation of photovoltaic systems on sheathed roofs, which are typically used as roofing on industrial warehouses because of their protective and waterproofing characteristics. The Connect system, thanks to its special lattice structure, can significantly limit the weight load placed on the roof, with a maximum of 20-25 kg/sqm including the weight of the panels.

The system in question is extremely simple and quick to install, consisting of a grid of concrete ballasts connected to each other: a front ballast, a middle ballast, and an end ballast that closes the rows of panels.

The interconnected ballasts form a solid, wind-resistant system that distributes weight evenly over the entire surface.

The Connect system offers a wide range of inclinations ranging from 5° to 30° for installing panels horizontally, and also allows the installation of vertical photovoltaic modules with an inclination of 10°.

The special structure of the Connect system not only allows for limited weight placed on the roof, but is also a great ally when it comes to wind resistance. To certify the wind resistance of our support structures for photovoltaic panels, Sun Ballast products have been subjected to laboratory tests in wind tunnels with air flows under adverse conditions. Results have been extraordinary, in some cases even exceeding 150 km/h.

Transportation costs and short installation times mean a real lowering of costs per kW, and thus result in a major economic advantage to keep in mind.
